Donna Mckevitt

Biography
Donna McKevitt is an English composer based in London. She studied viola with Gustav Clarkson and voice with Linda Hirst and gained a BA Hons in music at Kingston Polytechnic.
She was a member of Miranda Sex Garden between 1991 and 1994 and recorded several albums with them on Mute Records, touring Japan, The States and Europe.
She began a collaboration with Greg Roberts of Dreadzone going on to write, sing and play on their albums Second Light and Biological Radio with Virgin Records.
In ’93 Donna began her work on ‘Translucence’ settings of Derek Jarman’s poems which was recorded for Warner Classics in 97 by Andrew Keener featuring the voices of Michael Chance and Melanie Pappenheim. The work has been performed by the original ensemble at Columbia University which was broadcast live on WNYC Radio and at The City of London Festival and at The Tate. It’s also been performed at The Edinburgh Festival and in Boston, Tokyo, Sydney and Zurich by other ensembles. A selection of the pieces from Translucence will soon be part of a film by Sally Waterman in association with Art and Adventure.
She is currently composer for the photographer Emma Summerton having contributed scores for a film for fashion house Bodyamr for London and Paris Fashion Week and two new films to be released for Jaeger and Italian Vogue in September 2010.
Donna is a member of the band The Mabuses and will be recording with them this September with Mark Radcliffe.
She is currently in collaboration with film maker Chris Briggs in a production of a short film about Pablo Neruda which will be based on her settings of his poetry.
